Marianas Employees Financial Aid (MEFA)

Marianas Employees Financial Aid (MEFA) is an assistance offered annually for eligible residents who are employed in the Commonwealth and are enrolled part-time at the Northern Marianas College or in an online program.  He/She must be enrolled in 1-11 credit hours or as defined by the awardee’s institution as part-time.  An eligible applicant may be eligible for the Priority Fields of Study but not the incentives. Eligible applicants must show proof of  employment every term by submitting our employment verification form or one from their employer on the official letterhead detailing their employment information as indicated in our form.

To avail of this financial aid, an applicant must create a student profile and complete the online application no later than the established annual deadlines of July 1st or December 15th.   Applications for semester and quarter calendar systems submitted on July 1stdeadline are valid for the entire academic year. 

Supporting documents must be submitted as a complete package no later than the following established deadlines:

Winter Quarter & Spring Semester                           February 28th

Spring Quarter                                                          April 1st

In addition, please use the following list to determine which supporting documents you must submit to the CNMI Scholarship Office:

NEW APPLICANTS (First time applicant)

  1. Acceptance Letter 
  2. Official Transcript (e-Script must be e-mailed directly to the CNMI Scholarship Office)
  3. Class Schedule (enrolled in 1-11 credits)
  4. Proof of Citizenship (Valid US Passport)
  5. Proof of CNMI Registered Voter *
  6. Proof of three (3) years consecutive CNMI residency 
  7. Proof of CNMI Employment (must be CSO form)

 

ONGOING (Applicant who was awarded no more than one academic year ago)

  1. Official Transcript Official Transcript (e-Script must be e-mailed directly to the CNMI Scholarship Office)
  2. Class Schedule (enrolled in 1-11 credits)
  3. Proof of CNMI Employment (must be CSO form)

 

RETURNING (Applicant who has not been awarded more one academic year)

  1. Acceptance Letter 
  2. Official Transcript Official Transcript (e-Script must be e-mailed directly to the CNMI Scholarship Office)
  3. Class Schedule (enrolled in 1-11 credits)
  4. Proof of Citizenship (Valid US Passport)
  5. Proof of CNMI Registered Voter *
  6. Proof of three (3) years consecutive CNMI residency
  7. Proof of CNMI Employment (must be CSO form)

Voter's Certification Report (VCR) will satisfy #5 & #6 if voted in 2014 election or registered to vote in 2014.

NOTE CNMI annual 1040, Employment Verification, Transcripts & Military orders, Voter’s Certification Reports (VCR), and/or Certified Medical/Dental visit dates may be used to proof residency.
